Preventative Well-Woman Care
Periodic women’s wellness visits are an important part of maintaining good health, and these visits provide an opportunity to discuss all of your health care concerns with Dr. Clark. Preventive care visits are done on an annual basis and include screening blood work as well as screening for breast cancer, cervical cancer, osteoporosis, and colon cancer. If you have concerns about other aspects of your general health, exercise regimen, diet, contraception, or chronic conditions, these concerns can be addressed at that time.
At Chapel Hill Gynecology, we understand the value of performing a physical examination in addition to the screenings listed above. Women’s wellness visits include a complete physical examination including breast and pelvic examinations. For women over the age of 30 who need a Pap smear, co-screening for high-risk strains of human papilloma virus (HPV) is done at the time of the Pap smear. For women who are less than 30 years of age, screening for HPV is done automatically if the Pap smear is not completely normal. Chapel Hill Gynecology also offers screening laboratory evaluation, including thyroid testing as well as cholesterol and diabetes testing.
