Depression and Anxiety
Depression and anxiety are common in women, and can impair functioning and quality of life. These conditions, especially during the perimenopausal or postmenopausal stages of life, often have a hormonal component. We screen our patients for anxiety and depression, and offer a comprehensive approach to treatment that includes referral for psychotherapy (talk therapy) or psychiatric services as needed, as well as medication management. We also evaluate our patients for physical conditions that may contribute to depression and anxiety, such as thyroid problems, hormonal insufficiencies, and vitamin deficiencies.
