Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Bioidentical hormone therapy is the treatment of menopausal or perimenopausal symptoms using hormones that are biologically identical to those made by a woman’s ovaries: estradiol (estrogen), progesterone, and testosterone.  Individualized bioidentical hormone therapy products are available from regular pharmacies as well as from compounding pharmacies or through placement of injectable hormone pellets.  Compounded bioidentical hormones and hormone pellets are not covered by health insurance plans.  Many women who want to use bioidentical hormones feel that they are out of reach for reasons of cost, so they continue to suffer with bothersome menopausal symptoms.

Don’t let that be you! There are a number of bioidentical hormone therapy products that are covered by health insurance plans, making them available to most women at a reasonable cost.  The dosing flexibility in these products (which are available at your usual pharmacy) allows customization of hormone therapy for the individual woman. Dr. Clark has worked with bioidentical hormones for many years and can find the right combination for you.  If a compounded hormone prescription is necessary (for instance, testosterone in a dose appropriate for women), Dr. Clark works with local compounding pharmacies to create individualized prescriptions that would otherwise not be available.

Dr. Clark has extensive experience in working with her patients to find the hormone regimen that is just right.  And one that is affordable so that financial concerns do not limit access to hormone therapy.  She understands how vital hormone balance is for quality of life and optimal physical, mental, and sexual functioning, and can help you find a combination that is a perfect fit.
